Piston pumps
The piston pump is probably the oldest and best-known pump variant in the world. With this type of pump, a piston is moved back and forth in a cylinder. The pumped medium is sucked in or expelled per stroke movement through alternating opening and closing suction & discharge valves. These pumps have a considerable pulsation.
The piston pump is excellently self-priming with a suction height of up to 8 metres (water, cold). It is also very robust and has a long service life.
