Centrifugal pumps
Centrifugal pumps are dynamic flow machines.
A rotating shaft generates dynamic force through an impeller, which transports the medium.
Depending on the design of the impeller, centrifugal pumps are also referred to as radial impeller pumps (for radial flow) or centrifugal impeller pumps (for centrifugal flow). They are ideal for applications with high flow rates and relatively low differential pressures or delivery heads.
Customisation options:
- Impeller diameter: The operating point of the pump can typically be optimised by reducing or increasing the impeller diameter.
- Multi-stage design: To achieve higher delivery pressures or delivery heads, multi-stage centrifugal pumps use several impellers connected in series.
- Speed control: Alternatively or in addition to this, variable speed control allows flexible adaptation to changing requirements – e.g. in the case of fluctuating medium properties or loads.
Centrifugal pumps are therefore extremely versatile and, thanks to their modular design, offer a high degree of adaptability to individual processes.
